Our site is set on the edge of Edinburgh, a cosmopolitan city, steeped in history and home to two extinct volcanos. Visitors can escape the city and enjoy the calm of the coast and walk out to Cramond Island in the Firth of Forth. Edinburgh Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat are also nearby.

  • Cycling Cycling

    Get to know the area by cycling along Silverknowes Esplanade which has a wide, level path with fantastic views over the Firth of Forth.

    The closest National Cycling Route to us is Route 1 (Dover to the Shetland Islands) which you could join from Edinburgh to Aberdeen for a 172 mile journey – view Sustrans route map

    If needed, Blackhall Cycle Repairs comes highly recommended, a 2.5 mile bike ride from site.

  • Walking Walking

    You’ll struggle to miss Arthur’s Seat, a dramatic extinct volcano located in the centre of Edinburgh. Views from the summit are simply amazing!

    Check tide times and walk out to Cramond Island. It’s 2.2 miles away and the beach walk is great for families.

    Hunt for clues in the city to find lost treasure on the Edinburgh Treasure Trail (suitable for children over 4 years).

    In the Old Town of Edinburgh beside Edinburgh Castle, The Scotch Whisky Experience offers tours to suit each visitor.

    For something a bit more extravagant, book in for ‘Edinburgh’s finest afternoon tea’ at The Colonnades in the Signet Library. The perfect setting for a celebration or a just a special treat.

    Scale the narrow spiral staircase of the Scott Monument and enjoy the fantastic views from the top of this gothic masterpiece.

    If visiting Lauriston Castle, pop in to the café for a slice of cake with your tea or coffee.

    Visit Heads & Tales Gin Bar, a unique gin distillery with knowledgeable bar staff, located in Edinburgh’s West End.

    Four miles along the coast in Leith is Teuchters Landing, a cosy dockside pub serving hearty food, local beers and whisky.

    First timers to Edinburgh can see the whole city a ‘Hop On Hop Off Tour’, the closest stop is located at Charlotte Square, 3.6 miles away from site.

    The Edinburgh Dungeon is a firm favourite for families with slightly older children. Let the immersive theatre experience take you back to explore Scotland’s grim history, introducing you to Scotland’s most infamous killers!
