    There are many great cycling routes around Great Yarmouth that will appeal to all, with routes that make the most of the rich and varied scenery in the areas, from the stunning beaches to the beautiful historic churches. There are also longer cycle routes that take in the castles, windmills and country estates.

     

  • Walking Walking

    The campsite is situated just a few minutes' walk from a sandy beach which stretches for miles along the Norfolk coast. The seaside town of Great Yarmouth is just over a mile away, from there you can walk the entire length of the promenade, starting from the boating lake at the north end and finishing just beyond the scenic roller coaster at the south end. You can either then walk another two miles back, or cheat and jump on the road train!

    Naturally, this racecourse site is perfect for those wanting to attend a race day. Concessionary tickets for race days are available from reception - you'll save half the price of on-gate tickets!

     

    Fans of the ‘beautiful game’ should head to Norwich Football stadium and see the Premier team in action, with experience days available too. Alternatively, explore the city of Norwich itself. Easily walkable, it is the most complete medieval city in the UK and has a great arts, music and cultural scene, with fantastic shopping to boot.

     

    On good weather days, pack up a picnic and venture to Gorleston-on-Sea Beach, near Great Yarmouth. With three miles of glorious sandy beaches, there’s plenty of activities with a pitch & putt, bowling greens, tennis and basketball courts, trim trail and a children's playground.

    A short walk from the campsite is The Avenue Pub, which offers traditional pub food, as well as a small pub garden, perfect for the summer months.

     

    Eating out in Great Yarmouth is very easy with plenty of choices from fine dining restaurants, to cosy cafes and tempting takeaways.

     

    The Fisherman’s Return is worth venturing out to and is approximately 7 miles from the campsite. The 300 year old brick and flint pub is situated in the unspoilt and picturesque village of Winterton-on-Sea and is mere minutes away from long stretches of sandy beaches.

    A trip to Great Yarmouth with the kids, wouldn’t be complete without visiting The Pleasure Beach, one of Britain’s top tourist attractions. About 10 minutes from the campsite is the Merrivale Model Village, where you can see town and country in miniature in an acre of landscaped garden with a railway running through.

     

    Get up close to some friendly camels in the only family park in the UK with herds of both Dromedary and Bactrian camels, as well as llamas and alpacas, as the Camel Park Oasis, where you could even enjoy a ride on them. There are also smaller animals for you to stroke and hold in their ‘cuddle-a-pet’ sessions, as well as a maze, pedal cars, bouncy castle and educational shows.

    Pirate Cove Golf was the first adventure golf course to open in the UK in 1995 and is nestled in Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile. Grab your Shipmates and putt your way over, under and through this pirate themed miniature golf course, heaving with tropical landscapes and oodles of pirate booty!
