Set in Hampshire parkland on the valley floor, with the Forest of Bere at its edge, our campsite is perfect for walking, cycling, picnics and even horse rides. Nestled between two National Parks and the south coast, Rookesbury is ideally placed for some great days out.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest or venture out towards the surrounding villages and the many local pubs. Our site is nicely placed for exploring Portsmouth and the south coast; why not spend a day at the seaside.

    Our campsite is placed on the edge of the Forest of Bere, with lots of easy cycle routes to take directly from the site entrance.

     

    The nearest National Cycle Network route to our site is Route 236 which runs from Fareham to Cosport.

  • Walking Walking

    Follow the footpath from the site to the village of Wickham or take advantage of the direct access from our site to Rookesbury Park and the Forest of Bere where you can enjoy a gentle stroll a more challenging hike.

    Satisfy your need for speed at TeamSport Indoor Go-Karting, where you can ride the multi-level track all the way to the finish line.

     

    See the south coast from a new height at The Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. Take a high speed lift 100 metres up to the view deck and enjoy a bite to eat the unique café and bar, 105 metres above the Harbour. When you’ve come back down to earth, hit the shops at Gunwharf Quays.

    If you’re looking for a place for lunch or a snack, Offbeet in Wickham is a vegan and gluten-free café nestled at the back of the historic Chesapeake Mill serving quirky cakes and artisan tea and coffee.

     

    Uniquely located on the edge of the Meon Valley woodland, The Roebuck Inn offers hearty British food in a relaxed atmosphere. Alternatively, settle in at Clifford Brown’s Brasserie for locally sourced, pub-style dishes with a fine-dining twist.

    Just a 25 minute drive away from our site, Marwell Zoo has hundreds of animals to see. Explore the 140 acre park, ride the train past the hippos and flamingo and visit the five adventure playgrounds.

     

    There’s plenty to see and do in nearby Portsmouth – stop in at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport then catch the four minute ferry into Portsmouth Harbour.

     

    If you fancy a full day out, hop on a ferry from Portsmouth across to the Isle of Wight. Choose from many attractions such as Blackgang Chine, Alum Bay and The Needles, or visit one of the award winning beaches.
